The inhibitory effects of Gleditschiae Spina, Gleditschia saponin, two complex prescriptions such as Takrisodokum and Kwaluubangtang, which contain Gleditschiae Spina, and their altered prescriptions on acute inflammatory responses induced by carrageenan in rats were investigated.
The antiinflammatory effect of Takrisodokum was much stronger than that of Kwaluubangtang in vivo. However, the prescription with the substraction of Gleditschiae Spina showed less antiinflammatory effect than that of Takrisodokum. Contrary to this, in case of Kwaluubangtang the substraction of Gleditschiae Spina led to the increase of the antiinflammatory effect.
Above results may indicate that Takrisodokum showes significant antiinflammatory effect in vivo assay, and the Gleditschiae Spina plays an important role for this effect.
